Saudi Arabia’s ruling royal family, House of Saud, is estimated to have a net worth of $1.4 trillion with approximately 15,000 members in total, but only around 2,000 are part of the inner circle. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud currently serves as de facto Saudi ruler. Women from this family have dedicated themselves to various philanthropic efforts, and below we highlight a few notable ones:

1) Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud was appointed as Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States in 2019, making her the first female to hold that position. She has served on several boards related to sports and women’s affairs in the country, such as being vice president for Women’s Affairs at the General Sports Authority since 2016 and chairing both Atal Almaid (which provides global business innovation services) and Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee’s Board of Directors. Princess Reema also founded Zahra Breast Cancer Association in 2007, which set a Guinness World Record for the “World’s Largest Human Awareness Ribbon” in 2015.

2) Another royal family member making significant philanthropic strides is Princess Sora bint Saud Al Saudi (the granddaughter of late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz). She graduated from American University with a degree in psychology and founded SO. by Sora, an eco-friendly fashion brand that aims to reduce waste through innovative design practices since 2018. Princess Sora has also started another jewelry company called Loren Jewels as well as established the Ahyaha Foundation alongside her husband Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal Al Saud in 2015, which focuses on improving community welfare by supporting programs related to youth and education, sustainable development, water resources management, traffic safety awareness.

3) Princess Adila bint Abdullah Al Saudi is dedicated towards promoting healthcare-related issues as the President of National Charitable Foundation for Home Health Care in Jeddah and Founding Member & Chairperson of Sanad Charitable Society to Support Children with Cancer since its establishment. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from King Saud University, majoring in English Literature.

4) Princess Haifa bint Muhammad Al Saudi holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from London Business School after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of New Haven with a Major in Business Administration in 2008. She started working as an Analyst for HSBC Holdings before moving up to Senior Associate, Equity Sales position by 2012. Currently, she serves on Saudi Arabia’s Board of Directors for General Authority of Civil Aviation since 2020 and is also the current Vice Minister of Tourism in her country as appointed earlier this year (2022).

These are just a few examples that illustrate how women from the House of Saud have dedicated themselves to charitable work across various sectors, making meaningful contributions towards improving society’s welfare.
