A new study by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, a research organization that supports bringing unborn babies to term, has revealed that the United States is among only eight countries in the world with zero restrictions on abortion at a federal level. The report found out of 193 U.N. Member states, America allows ‘on demand’ abortions without any gestational limits alongside Australia, Canada, China, Guinea-Bissau, Mexico, South Korea and Vietnam. Mary Harned, an associate scholar with the Charlotte Lozier Institute who co-authored the report said: “Our report makes one thing clear – the United States is a global outlier when it comes to abortion.” The authors added that in the past decade there has been no change as America remains alongside brutal communist countries like China, which also allows abortions up until birth. Twenty-nine states and Washington D.C., allow abortion after 12 weeks of gestation – a limit exceeded by only twelve U.N member nations. In at least nineteen states, prescribers who provide the drugs for medical terminations are shielded from legal repercussions if they post these services in other regions that restrict such operations. Despite the federal government not having specific guidelines around abortion access, under Joe Biden’s presidency both his Department of Veterans Affairs and Defense have committed to making sure abortive procedures can be performed at their health facilities. Billions of dollars from state and federal taxpayers also go towards major providers like Planned Parenthood as reported by the Washington Examiner. The report concludes that “the United States should aim to protect life even earlier than the 15 weeks gestational limits which are already in place across most other U.N member states, ranging from total protection for unborn babies through to after this stage.”
