Airline travellers faced substantial disruptions whilst travelling to and from Paris today, despite the fact that air traffic controllers’ proposed strike has been cancelled following last-minute negotiations. Although industrial action was averted, adjustments made ahead of time led to major decreases in flight schedules resulting in considerable limitations across all French aeroports – upwards of 75% at Paris Orly and Charles de Gaulle airports as well as varying reductions throughout other French airfields. Consequently, international flights passing through France were also affected by the disruption. Whilst those that did operate only experienced moderate delays, significant cancellations and rescheduling led to continued difficulties for thousands of passengers, with Paris Orly airport being particularly badly hit due to compounded issues during today’s chaos.
