Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Shift to Hudson River for First Time in Decade

NEW YORK CITY – After a decade-long hiatus, Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks show in 2024 is set to launch from the Hudson River instead of its traditional East River location. This change will provide New Jersey residents with an unprecedented view of the spectacle as parts of Hoboken and Jersey City are now included in the line-up. The Manhattan skyline, meanwhile, between West 14th and West 34th Streets offers a plethora of viewing spots for revelers eagerly awaiting the extravaganza scheduled on July fourth next year. In contrast to recent years when fireworks were launched from East River, Brooklyn and Queens residents enjoyed front-row seats to this annual event. The upcoming show will feature thousands of shells with an array of effects synchronized from barges positioned along Hudson’s shoreline. “This Fourth of July we look forward to treating spectators on the shores of Manhattan and New Jersey with a stunning fireworks display, unlike any seen in more than 10 years,” Will Coss, Executive Producer for Macy’s Fireworks said. The tradition of hosting this event dates back to 1976 when it first became an integral part of NYC’s celebratory scene. As New York City Mayor Eric Adams mentioned during his remarks “Each year we light up the city skyline in honor of Independence Day, driving our economy and supporting local businesses as spectators gather at this annual event.” Further details regarding performers, viewing spots, and other related information will be disclosed soon.
