In Turkey, a significant aviation incident occurred at two different airports in quick succession. On Thursday, a Boeing 737 operated by Corendon Airline, based in Turkey, experienced a tire explosion upon landing at Gazipasa airport near Alanya. Although the incident resulted in the plane coming to a stop on its nose, thankfully all 190 people on board, including 184 passengers and six crew members, were safely evacuated with no injuries reported. This incident followed another occurrence at Istanbul Airport just a day prior, when a FedEx Express Boeing 767 cargo aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing due to failing front landing gear. However, the crew was able to disembark unharmed. Flights were temporarily redirected to the nearby Antalya airport while the affected planes were being dealt with. These incidents come after the latest safety and public relations crisis faced by Boeing, following a door-plug blowout mid-January involving one of their 737 Max 9 planes. Authorities are currently investigating both incidents.
