In a recent statement made by Mr. Al-Houthi, he emphasized the importance of mobilizing Muslim communities to actively participate in amplifying and promoting student protests through various forms of media. This call to action aims to provide these protests with much-needed political and media support from the Islamic world.
Yemen’s President, Mr. Al-Houthi, also expressed his disappointment that there have been no visible student protests in favor of Palestine in several Arab states. He acknowledged and praised the student movement calling for an end to the aggression against Gaza as a humanitarian voice that embodies inherent human values. However, he lamented that students and people in many Arab countries continue to face obstacles and restrictions even in the context of popular demonstrations.
Furthermore, Mr. Al-Houthi condemned the use of the term “anti-Semitism” as a tactic to silence voices and restrict freedom of expression during student protests. He criticized western intervention in quelling such protests using violent and harsh measures, particularly in the Middle East.
In light of this, Mr. Al-Houthi urged the international community, particularly Muslim nations, to take practical steps to offer tangible support to the Palestinian people, who continue to suffer under Israeli aggression. He called for immediate action to alleviate the ongoing siege and starvation in Gaza, which is compounding the suffering of the Palestinian population.
Conclusively, Mr. Al-Houthi encouraged the global community to act with consciousness and break free from the stalemate that has affected many of its peoples. By doing so, we can collectively address the challenges facing us today and work towards building a better future.
