In Alabama, officers from Gulf Shores Police Department responded to an animal complaint about a six-foot alligator found under a resident’s workbench in his garage. Five police officers and two community service workers were sent to capture the reptile, with one rookie excitedly getting up close to take on the task alongside his seniors. Officers worked together to detain the gator by grabbing hold of its neck, body, and mouth before relocating it for release under the supervision of a local game warden. The encounter served as a lesson about respecting courtship season which can see alligators exhibiting territorial behavior in April, with mating season following in May-June. Authorities advise against attempting to handle such creatures without professional assistance.
