In last night’s playoff game between the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks, Joel Embiid played a crucial role in securing their victory with an impressive 50-point performance during their 125-114 win. However, this triumph did not come without controversy as he was issued a flagrant foul in the first quarter following his fall to the ground while the Knicks were passing the ball around. Embiid then grabbed Mitchell Robinson’s legs as he attempted to shoot, causing him to land awkwardly on the floor. The 76ers star avoided ejection and later, Robinson left the game due to an ankle injury. Moreover, in a subsequent incident during the matchup, Embiid was seen striking Robinson below his belt when he went up for a shot. Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau questioned whether both incidents were dealt with fairly by officials after the final whistle blew. The Empire State Building’s X account also chimed into the discussion, stating that Embiid had been “banned” from their building due to his behavior on court last night. Despite this, Embiid remained unstoppable and recorded an outstanding 21 free-throw attempts compared to New York’s total team percentage of 48.9% in field goals made. Tyrese Maxey backed up Embiid by contributing 25 points. In response to the Sixers’ efforts, Jalen Brunson scored a remarkable 39 points with an impressive 13 assists for New York while Josh Hart added another 20 points during their game four defeat which still sees them ahead in the series at two games apiece heading into Saturday’s upcoming encounter.
