Poppy Harlow Leaves CNN After Two Decades of Reporting, Including Coverage of Boston Marathon Bombings and Paris Terror Attacks, Cites Support for Journalism and Time with Family

This article reports on Poppy Harlow’s departure from CNN after almost two decades with the network, during which time she held various roles and reported extensively on significant news events such as the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013 and the Paris terror attacks in 2015. She was known for her skills in business journalism and interviewed notable executives like Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Susan Wojcicki, Jamie Dimon, among others on her podcast “Boss Files”. In early 2022, she helped to relaunch CNN’s flagship morning show but behind-the-scenes drama led to tabloid headlines and ultimately the dismissal of Don Lemon from the network. After Chris Licht stepped down as CEO in February this year, Thompson announced a reconfiguration of CNN’s morning lineup which left Harlow without an anchor slot. In her email to colleagues announcing her departure, she expressed gratitude for the opportunities at CNN and stated that she would be spending more time with family while continuing to support journalism and preserve its humanity in every way possible.
