The criminal case against Andrew Tate, self-proclaimed misogynist influencer, and his brother Tristan on charges of human trafficking and rape can proceed to trial in Romania’s capital Bucharest after the court ruled so on Friday. The exact date for the trial has not been set yet as Mateea Petrescu, spokesperson for the Tate brothers, informed that they have already filed an appeal against the ruling. In December 2022, Andrew and Tristan were arrested along with two Romanian citizens who faced charges of human trafficking, rape, and setting up a criminal gang to sexually exploit women – all allegations denied by them. The prosecutors alleged that the Tate brothers lured their victims through false claims of relationship or marriage desires before sexual abuse. In response to the decision announced on Friday, Eugen Vidineac, lead counsel for Andrew and Tristan stated that it lacks legal basis and reasoning as they have filed a strong appeal against this unlawful ruling devoid of any rational foundation according to Adrian Sandulescu who represented other two suspects. The story is still developing and will be updated soon.
