Fox News correspondent Bryan Llenas reported on the recent assaults against New York City police officers, with Mayor Adams expressing hope for a tough-on-crime policy in response. Meanwhile, some members of the city council who have been critical of the NYPD were exposed as being “hypocritical” after receiving threatening messages and calling upon law enforcement to rescue them from those threats. Councilmembers Chi Ossé, Shahana Hanif, Yusef Salaam, and Carlina Rivera have all spoken out against police policies and supported pro-Palestinian protests in New York City. In October, Hanif was arrested at an anti-Israel rally. The council members’ stance on law enforcement has led some officers to criticize them for their hypocrisy and suggest that they hire private security instead of relying solely upon police protection.
