Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate, has expressed his concerns about innocent lives being put at risk if President Joe Biden’s administration continues refusing him Secret Service protection despite a multitude of death threats and multiple break-ins to his home. In an interview with author and journalist Raymond Arroyo, Kennedy revealed that he had provided the authorities with 68 pages detailing actual incidents involving people carrying guns at his events or attempting to enter his green room armed. Some of these individuals carried fake identification documents as well.
Kennedy also disclosed that there have been four break-ins at his house since announcing his candidacy, including one incident where an intruder reached the second floor when Kennedy’s family was present in their home. These threats against Kennedy date back to his father and uncle who were assassinated previously. As per him, bystanders could get injured or killed during any potential incidents due to crossfire between assailants and security personnel if he is not granted Secret Service protection soon enough.
The US Secret Service had ignored a request made by RFK Jr in February regarding the grant of Secret Service cover. However, it seems crucial now since Kennedy’s safety has been compromised multiple times already. The candidate fears that history could repeat itself as innocent people were also harmed during assassination attempts against his uncle and father earlier on. Therefore, he believes that having Secret Service protection would help deter such incidents from happening in the future by discouraging any potential threats.
