Rumors of Brandon Aiyuk’s potential trade from the San Francisco 49ers have been circulating for some time now, with even fellow wide receiver Deebo Samuel being mentioned in recent weeks. However, it seems that these rumors may be linked to Aiyuk attempting to secure a new contract, rather than any immediate plans by the team. The addition of Florida’s Ricky Pearsall during Thursday night’s NFL Draft has further fueled speculation surrounding Aiyuk’s future in San Francisco, but despite this, he reportedly gave his seal of approval for the pick to both head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch. In fact, after being drafted by the 49ers with the 30th overall selection – their first choice since taking Trey Lance third in 2021 – Pearsall received a congratulatory call from Aiyuk himself. This move was significant as it marks only the second time San Francisco has made an appearance within the first round of recent years, with last year’s selection being used to trade up and select quarterback Brock Purdy for an impressive fourth-rounder from both teams – this choice resulted in neither player seeing any action during their respective seasons.
