Seven Caribbean Beaches, Marine Park Closed After Shark Attack on British Tourist

Rewritten Article: A shark attack on a British tourist has led to the closure of seven beaches and a marine park in Trinidad & Tobago. The incident occurred at Turtle Beach along Great Courland Bay in the southeastern Caribbean on Friday, causing the government to issue an announcement warning locals and tourists from swimming or indulging in water sports in affected areas. Seven other sites along the northwestern coast of the island of Tobago have also been closed as shark sightings were reported in Grafton and Buccoo Reef Marine Park. The authorities stated that they will carry out investigations to neutralize any potential threat posed by these sea predators after receiving reports regarding their presence in these locations. It should be noted that the occurrence of such incidents is rare, as per data compiled by Florida-based International Shark Attack File for 2019 – a total number of 69 unprovoked attacks and 22 provoked bites were reported globally with fourteen deaths registered in the same period.
