Renowned actress Candace Cameron Bure has shared some valuable advice for young actors in a recent interview with E! News. The “Unsung Hero” star spoke out on Nickelodeon’s documentary series, “Quiet On Set,” which exposed the negative experiences of child stars working on shows produced by the network during their formative years. Bure expressed her feelings about watching this harrowing docuseries and shared that it made her even more grateful for not going through those difficult situations.
The actress explained how she felt “very protected” while filming Full House, thanks to the people around her and her family. She cautioned young actors today, emphasizing the need to beware of others’ motives since they are often looking out solely in their own self-interest. Bure advised them that if they genuinely enjoy acting, then this industry could provide wonderful opportunities for them; however, it is crucial to have people around who will safeguard and look after their welfare as well.
Cameron expressed her anguish regarding the traumatic events disclosed by other actors during interviews conducted by documentary series creator John DeVore for “Quiet on Set.” The docuseries unveiled claims made against Nickelodeon stars, including Drake Bell who alleged that he was sexually abused at 15 by a dialogue coach employed by the network. This coach – Brian Peck has previously been convicted of sexual offences and Bell accused him of subjecting him to “extensive” abuse which became increasingly brutal over time.
Many former Nickelodeon stars who were not featured in this documentary have spoken out, lending their support for those who chose to share the distress they suffered as children. Actress Melissa Joan Hart claimed that her own experience at a similar time period on another programme – Clarissa Explains It All (from 1991-4) was different from what other actors described in this documentary series, but she maintained absolute faith and belief in them entirely regardless of their differences during interviews.
The statement issued by Nickelodeon confirmed that the channel is committed to maintaining a safe workplace environment for everyone working there; however, it does not substantiate or reject claims regarding alleged behaviour from past productions due to time constraints. The network has also taken various measures over time in order to ensure compliance with its high standards and audience expectations concerning child safety and well-being at all times on their sets during production schedules for the children involved therein too!
