Ryan Sieg encountered a frightening incident during the BetRivers 200 in NASCAR Xfinity Series at Dover this weekend. While running in the top 15 on lap 26, his car suddenly caught fire as he exited Turn 2. The driver quickly maneuvered his No.39 Ford Mustang to the inside wall and safely got out of it before emergency personnel arrived. Sieg reported difficulty climbing out of the burning vehicle but confirmed that there was no clear cause for the blaze, stating “No indication whatsoever.” Fortunately, he received medical attention at the infield care center after experiencing heavy smoke inhalation. Prior to this mishap, Sieg had been delivering impressive performances; finishing 17th last week’s race at Talladega and narrowly missing a top spot finish against Sam Mayer at Texas Motor Speedway only one week earlier due to a photo-finish call that was just fractions of seconds too late. His teammate Blaine Perkins also retired from the competition shortly after Sieg, as his car caught fire during stage break on lap 50. This unusual occurrence left many bewildered and perplexed about what might have caused such bizarre incidents at Dover this weekend.
